As this edition of Parks &
Recreation arrives in mailboxes
across the country,
the 110th Congress has
completed its first session.
This Congress will be noted for several
historic events, including election of the
first female speaker of the House and
the highest number of recorded votes
(more than 1,000) in a one-year session
in the House. It will be remembered in
part for the political shift following the
2006 election, as well as for ongoing
debates about some of the most important
and contentious issues of our time. More
